The DBRC is proud to share the first wall mural installation in our Downtown business district!! The artwork was designed and installed by local muralist Alysia Mackenzie, Alysia is well-known in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area for her work at locations such as The Franklin Institute, The Insectarium, and Phillies Stadium as well as many restaurants (such as Scotto's Pizza in Berlin!), businesses and private residences.
The Berlin mural installation is located on the Comteckh building at 150 S White Horse pike just inside the garden at Victor Vault. You can visit the mural anytime and enjoy it as you enter the Vault for one of its live music performances (link below). Pictured in the mural is the tower of the RCA Building in camden, NJ alongside the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. This iconic location was home to Victor Talking Machine Company best known for "His Master's Voice" trademark. The well-known image of Nipper the dog listening to his master's voice recording playing from an album on a Victrola. The company produced and marketed Victrola machines as well as recorded albums from many famous musicians. These artists include: The Beatles, The Doors, Elvis Presley, Prince all the way up Brittany Spears and many artists we know today. The DBRC has garnered a tremendous amount of support and sponsorship from the community which will be honored and recognized during a ribbon cutting ceremony this fall along with Berlin town councilmembers. Our sponsors will be featured on a plaque directly on the mural and will be showcased during the ceremony. This project is a part of the nonprofit's aim to revitalize the downtown business district through creative placemaking strategies. The Mural Project is just one small piece of a larger vision at developing Berlin Boro as a destination.
